Rural Brownfields: Over-Application of Liquid Manure with Ponding, Run-off

Ponding indicates over-application of manure -- it's waste disposal at that point, not fertilizer. Generally Accepted Agricultural Management Practices (GAAMPs) do not recommend spraying manure on steep slopes; and all manure applications are to be incorporated into the soil within 48 hours.  Photos show violations of all these practices.

Michigan's GAAMPs are voluntary only -- no CAFOs have been penalized for these practices.
